The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.

GOAL OF THE MONTH – Goal 14: Life Below Water

The ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface and sustains life across the planet, producing oxygen, regulating the climate,  and providing livelihoods for billions of people. Yet, this fragile ecosystem faces unprecedented threats, from extreme plastic pollution to rising acidity. Countries and partners are working to accelerate progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 14 and safeguard the ocean for future generations. Read more from the Goal of the Month editorial
